Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Sports Star of the Year award.
The trio have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the last year.
Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.
Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.
The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.
"Being on the shortlist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Littler's Profile
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler kicked off the year in sensational style as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.
"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
