A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The group managing the campaign have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
