Starting Lineup

Dean Henderson Not a save to perform in the first half until tested by an opponent's curled attempt. A sliding tackle on Qazim Laci showed sharp anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Examined by the opposition's biggest threat in Hoxha. Played more centrally early on later drifted out wide after a teammate was introduced. 7

John Stones Moved forward when in possession, a familiar role previously. At times lacked urgency when carrying play and the tactic discontinued at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, as always, but may be a replacement for Stones at the back rather than paired with him. A careless distribution later in the match almost led to the first goal from Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further assured showing by the 20-year-old after his first cap versus another side. A teammate did not capitalize on the opportunity from a clever backheel behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure at this stage. 7/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning with the national team. Slightly loose in possession though his dangerous set-pieces posed a danger. A useful tempo-setter for the coach to call upon versus teams who drop deep. Booked for a poorly timed tackle. Six

Declan Rice Set-pieces from corners and set-plays created chances. Was given license to move on the left yet found himself offside upon receiving in shooting positions. Granted a merited break around the 60-minute point. 6/10

The star midfielder Played in a forward role out wide and contributed with the hard yards. Showed glimpses of brilliance and scuffed a shot wide. Withdrawn in the closing stages for Rogers, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Was presented with England’s top opening in the opening period, his effort excellently kept out by the opposing goalkeeper. As a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to offer an outlet down the right side although his balls into the box were hit and miss. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his two more strikes in an England shirt. His first a typical opportunist's goal while the second an excellent headed goal following a clever run from his marker. At 32, his form is unwavering and the side are strong contenders next summer when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play out wide. Was presented with a good opening after being played in from a teammate but the keeper denied him. His replacement produced a bigger influence in his place. 5/10
