Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

The club claimed England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he told the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach another team in England. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, that means I could make the decision later on, who knows. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits around the place. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling recently.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad too. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
