Followers Urge Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande

Loyal supporters of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a fence and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.

A widely shared video depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.

Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.

Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.

History of Disruptions

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features clips of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.

"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is obviously a legal violation," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.

Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being

Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.

Several attendees also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.

Aftermath and Event Details

In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.

Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore fans had lined up to meet the cast of Wicked

Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.

The film, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a dual interpretation of the popular stage production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct witches.

The show itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.

They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, earning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
